Pēpē’s Best Restaurants in Ka'anapali
Aloha from Maui, it’s me Pēpē here with another yummy update! My Ohana & I have been busy exploring the best places to eat in Kaanapali & are ready to share our favorite places with you. We started walking the beach path from the Honua Kai Resort & ended up at Whalers Village, stopping at the best restaurants on the way & even caught a sunset at Monkey Pod. We hope you find this information useful for the next time you get hungry & need a recommendation or two.
Dukes Beach House - Located in North Ka'anapali at the Honua Kai Resort & Spa. Duke's Beach House is a classic Hawaiian cruise. Named after Duke Kahanamoku, who was a legendary Hawaiian olympic swimmer, an originator of modern day surfing, & was known for sharing his spirit of aloha with all. One of Duke's staple dishes is the desert dish known as Hula Pie. The ideal decadent treat to share (or not I never do!) They open early for breakfast at 8am & have pool side service if you're staying at the Honua Kai Resort. Be sure to make a reservation if you are looking to go for dinner!
Castaways - This low key beach front restaurant is the perfect spot for casual dining with a great view. Based at the beach front of the Kaanapali Villas, it’s accessible from the beach walk path. Castaways is the ideal spot for breakfast or brunch & you can even go straight to the beach after your meal. Tuesday is Pasta Night if you fancy a bit of bolognese for dinner! Their happy hour is very popular & features all your tropical favourites. This is one of my favorite spots to catch sunset & a snack!
Leilanis on the Beach - Leilanis on the beach is exactly what the name says, with views of Kaanaplai Beach down to Black Rock this spot is great for sunset or whale watching in the winter, especially from its top deck. With their island style menu, you can get a real taste of Hawaii & soak in an amazing view. My personal favorites are the Seafood Hot pot & Jumbo Crab Cakes!
Hula Grill - Hula Grill offers beachfront dining with a classic Hawaiian vibe. Steps away from Kaanaplai Beach & Whalers village, this spot is hard to beat with its sunset views, live music & you can even sink your feet into the sand. Their Barefoot bar has a great happy hour selection with a fun atmosphere if you are after a quick bite & a cocktail before your boat cruise or walk back to your hotel.
Monkey Pod - Monkey pod is a great spot to bring your whole ohana! Featuring weekly specials, live music & one of the best happy hours on the west side. The ocean view setting in Whalers Village makes this another epic sunset spot. I highly recommend the Kula pork & pineapple pizza (yes, I love Maui Gold on pizza) as well as the fish tacos. For a drink you must try their signature Monkeypod Mai Tai, the honey lilikoi foam is a revelation to top off this cocktail. They tend to have a wait during happy hour but you can always browse the shops or enjoy the beach while you wait!
You can never go wrong with a good meal & a beautiful view which is why dining in Maui is so special. Be sure to check out the other great restaurants the island has to offer while vacationing in Maui. You can see my pizza post here. Maybe I will do a few more blog posts about my favorite places to eat in different Maui towns!
Many Mahalo’s,
Pēpē
