Pēpē’s Top things to do in Lahaina - West Maui.

Aloha from Maui, Pēpē here with some more local Maui knowledge. I have some great tips for what to do & see when visiting the historic Lahaina town on the beautiful island of Maui. Lahaina was once the capital of Hawaii along with its royal monarchy, it was the heart of the whaling industry & later in the 1860’s a plantation town. Today the whaling ships are now replaced by sun set sails & whale watch cruises and the histroic streets now feature restraunts, galleries, shops & museums that hold this incredible hawaiian history.

  1. Banyan Tree Park - At the heart of the Lahaina Town is the 60ft tall banyan tree! The tee has 16 major trunks rooted in the ground that stretch over 200 feet to make it one of the largest banyans tree in the USA. This iconic tree of Lahaina was a gift from the Protestant missionaries and was planted in 1873. Banyan tree park is located near the Lahaina harbor & on weekends, artist & local crafters set up tables on the pathways along with musicians, dancers & hula shows for all to enjoy.
